§ 28-281. Truancy.

  • (a)

    Responsibility of parents and guardians. No parent, guardian or other adult person in the city having control and charge of a child from the age of six to the child's 16th birthday shall allow said child to be absent from school without excuse within the city during the hours when said child is required to be in attendance either at a public school, private school or home school as required by state law.

    (b)

    Aiding and abetting. No person shall encourage or assist a child to not attend or return to school unless such absence is excused by a school official or such excuse is recognized by law.
